Come Celebrate Our Wedding
February 26, 2022
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Our Story
Carlie and Mike met at the University of Maryland College Park and started dating when Mike graduated and moved to Arlington, VA. A year later, Carlie followed suit and moved into the same building… two floors above Mike. In what felt like an episode of Friends, they started to spend more time together and eventually moved into their own apartment.
Through their love of traveling, Mike and Carlie visited many places together, such as Mexico, Hawaii, and California (with no idea that only a few years later they’d be living there). The traveling continued when Mike moved to Philly to attend business school at Wharton. Carlie and Mike spent weekends visiting each other and they also went on school trips together to Colombia, Israel, Southeast Asia, and more.
After graduating, Mike went off on one final trip (enough already, right??) before they moved to San Francisco. To Carlie’s surprise, he came home early to propose to Carlie in Washington, DC. Expecting to go to happy hour with her girlfriends, Carlie was shocked to see Mike down on one knee, when he was supposed be half-way across the world. She happily said yes, before they celebrated with friends and family!

Q&A
As we get commonly asked questions, we’ll post them here!
1. Is the wedding still on?
Yes! Our new date is February 26, 2022.
2. Do I need to resubmit my RSVP?
Yes, please RSVP using the form above.
3. Are there any COVID-19 considerations?
We highly recommend that everyone is vaccinated and/or tests negative prior to traveling to Mexico. Additionally, at this time, all air passengers flying back to the United States, including U.S. citizens and fully vaccinated people, are required to have a negative COVID-19 test result no more than 1 day before travel (or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 in the past 3 months) before they board a flight to the United States. Rapid tests are available on site at the Marriott.
4. What should I wear?
The dress code for the welcome dinner and wedding is Resort Casual and Sunday by the pool is casual (e.g., bathing suits and casual clothes/ coverups). What does resort casual mean?? Think khaki/ chino pants, button down shirts, sundresses or other lightweight dresses, linen or cotton slacks. Patterns should be relatively neutral or muted. More formal sandals or shoes should be worn rather than flip-flops – loafers or topsiders and sandals with little to no heel (we’ll be on sand for the wedding ceremony!). Blazers are optional.
5. What is there to do in the area?
Puerto Vallarta is a beautiful and exciting city with lots to do in the area. Below are a few links you may find helpful as you’re planning your trip (we’ll add these to the website later).
- Hang at the hotel: The Marriott Puerto Vallarta has a great beach, pool, spa, etc. to check out
- Explore the Malecon (Boardwalk) in Downtown Puerto Vallarta: The Malecon is a ~1-mile promenade along the coast where you can enjoy views of the Bay of Banderas as you walk alongside sculptures, vendors, stores, and restaurants. It ends in the Zona Romantica, the picturesque Old Town Puerto Vallarta filled with cafes, bars, art galleries, and markets.
- Dine around the area: Eater 25 top restaurants in Puerto Vallarta: For those looking for food closer to the Marriott, the hotel has a few restaurants on site and there are quite a few nice restaurants in Marina Vallarta (< 1 mile away).
- Go on an adventure: Vallarta Adventures Activities such as tours to local towns, boat trips, secret beaches, diving, tequila tours, ATVs, etc. Note: don’t do the “Rhythms of the Night” or the “Las Caletas” activities, as those are actually at the wedding venue 🙂
- Other ideas: If you’re looking for other ideas, it’s always interesting to look up “Puerto Vallarta itineraries” to see what other people recommend (here’s an example).
